The flag-stop train is running for the winter season, so now our guests can have the train stop right at Fireweed Station for a great weekend getaway - Just like the old days: The Kirsch family ran this place as a hunting & fishing lodge back in the 40’s & 50’s and the only way to get here was on the Alaska Railroad. A guest from those days told us that the “Fisherman’s Special” round-trip, food & lodging was $15, but you could work out a deal if you caught your own fish for dinner!
Train fares are up a little from those days but you can still leave Anchorage Saturday morning and get to us by lunch time. Sunday afternoon we make a fire and hot drinks down by the tracks to wait for the southbound. Think about it - when was the last time you made a whole train stop just for you?
