Often people ask me, “Hobbs, what is a girl like you doing with a dweeb like Tom?” It has been said that he couldn’t charm a cat out of a bathtub and his hands are like sandpaper crab claws…
All I can say is, “I guess you’ve never had his waffles.”
It’s “National Waffle Day” today in the USA, but it’s always “Waffle Day” at Fireweed Station! Really; people do come from miles around just for Tom’s waffles - I’ve eaten thousands of them and I’m always ready for another one. Of course I’m not going to give you the recipe; it has taken him many years to perfect - but I will say that they are made with sourdough, whole grains and roasted pecans, so they do have some nutritional value. Best eaten hot off the iron. Don’t be polite, don’t wait a second longer; pour on the butter and syrup and dig in!
So come for the waffles, stay for Tom’s charming stories - he may even read you his waffle poetry.
As Tom says “A Waffle a day keeps the Pancakes away”!
